As we begin the second half of the compact 2013 NHL season, we seem to be getting a sense of who & what we'll see heading into the post season. Today, we present to you the T.O.A. Week #8 NHL Power Rankings! As the trade deadline is quickly approaching, only minor deals have been occurring. While we are getting closer to the finish line, we are going to see some match-ups develop (but right now may be to early to tell). This week there was an collective movement down in the majority of all clubs' power index. Chicago maintains the league's powerhouse while Anaheim seems to be creeping up on the fiery Blackhawks. Some incredible drops should be noted: Washington went from the "Who's Hot" list to the "Who's Not" in just one week, dropping a whopping total of 10 spots. The two statistical anomalies (Tampa Bay & Nashville) continue to smooth out slowly due to their lack-luster play (Tampa Bay dropping one spot & Nashville 2spots). Without any more delay, let's get into the new ranks & examine the way the beginning of the second half!:
Who's Hot?: St. Louis, Minnesota & Winnipeg
Who's Not?: Washington & Dallas
I couldnt stop laughing when i saw these rankings. You couldnt be more obvious for how much you hate the Wild. Are you a NJ, NSH or DET fan? Ha look at all the team ahead of them that have a worse record and have played worse over the last 10 or so games. You can really tell urself in your head that DET, TB, OTT, VAN and CAR are all better than MN? Especialy TB, DET and VAN?
ReplyDeleteI like all teams, but my favorite is the Florida Panthers. So I don't understand how I'm playing favoritism by any means. Granted, Minnesota has been on tear recently, but their lackluster start amounted for a lot of their shortcomings in the rankings. These ranks are based of of wins, losses, OTL, Goals For, & Goal differential in the amount of games played that they are accomplished. I stand firmly behind them. Many other rankings like to go with who ever's hot at the moment. Minnesota was ranked 10th last week; pretty decnt to me. New Jersey is a rival team in my bias opinion because of last year's playoffs, plus they are ranked where they should be, #19. Nashville the same: #24. Detroit I may admit is a little high, but check out the point total & GF + GD: http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?type=lea#&navid=nav-stn-league. Tampa Bay I've stated is a statistical anomalie that just won't go away due to their 92 current goals that makes them 3rd in the league. Either way thanks for the comment, I hope you stick around because the debate was cool.
