Mike Fisher Knows His Wife is Hot

So according to Mike Fisher of the Nashville Predators, he knows his wife, country music-star Carrie Underwood, is hot. The Pred's forward issued this statement on Twitter yesterday:

My twitter lit up tonight about my wife being hot #newsflash #shocker #tellmesomethingnew :)

A Look Back At Last Week: Patrick Roy's Meltdown

Patrick Roy's epic meltdown a week ago was the subject of a lot of criticism & a hefty fine of $10,000 by the NHL. Now that we've had time to let this settle in, we can look at how this isn't surprising in the world of hockey, & also in the world of Patrick Roy. Now why is it not surprising? Roy's known for his on-ice & off-ice antics as a player. Here's TSN's top 10 Patrick Roy moments:



The natural fight of a hockey player burning inside mixed with an ego the size of Quebec, it's safe to say that this was coming. It will continue to happen, & I hope it does. Hockey's lost a little in the character department. Players have become malicious rather than chirpy. I hope this excites fans & gets some fire under the NHL's wings, allowing it to continue to grow its viewership & love for the sport.

Tyler Seguin: A Dirty Little Hamster?? (Pt. 2)

So Tyler does it again. I worte a story over a month ago about the hygeine of Seguin, & it seems to be kind of true. I came across this report by Yardbarker about how the Bruins have fun or whatever the hell they like to talk about & saw a video that Tyler posted on his Twitter account.

Apparently his dog can sing, but his domicile seems a bit unkempt right after a road trip. Not to mention the ladies will probably love how he's in nothing but a robe & some underwear.

Mike Milbury Rant on Alexander Ovechkin

           VS.           

Now I didn't want to cover this, but the more talk that gets thrown around about what Alexander Ovechkin does & doesn't do, the more it becomes apparent that Mike Milbury may be right. Recently Milbury refered to the Pittsburgh offense, especially Evgeni Malkin, as guys "on crack" (but in a strange, good way). Now he goes off on another premier player in the league in Ovechkin, but this time with good reason. Here's the epic rant if you haven't seen it yet:



First off let me point out that this was an amazing rant. Subject aside, Milbury fired off on a tangent. If he was in any other position it would be considered unproffesional, but hey, he's a commentator. Alex didn't seemed bothered by any of this though. Here's a direct quote from an article by Stephen Whyno of the Washington Times:

“Well it’s his point,” Ovechkin said. “I don’t listen to those guys; I don’t listen to nobody right now, so they can talk whatever they want, to be honest with you.”

In a way Milbury is right. If I was gifted with the size & talent level of Alexander Ovechkin I'd play every night as if it were my last. But then one doesn't know how they will act once placed in that position. I've seen this trend happen with a lot of Russian & European players: Stellar performances for 3-4 years, then a sharp drop in production for the remainder of their career (but still above average than the rest of the pack). Ovechkin will always be talented, I guess we just got to wait a little longer now between each spark he gives us.

Gruesome Slash to the Face at QMJHL Game

A crazy injury gots me thinking about legal matters today. 17 year old QMJHL & Halifax Mooseheads player Brian Lovell recieved a huge slash to the face that could of killed him from 19 year old Russ Johnston:



While trying to dislodge the stick from the boards he [Johnston] looks directly at Lovell & then swipes it across his face, two-handed. A couple inches north to the temporal region of the head & we would be talking a possible 2nd degree murder on a minor by an adult. Here's the aftermath of the injury:

High School Hockey Goalie Sends Coach & Staff to Hell

Today's story was presented by many sources but I found it on this new site I've tried called Die Hard Sport. The video below is of a high school goalie showing his feelings towards the school's coach & staff:

I don't really have a say in this one. The kid had a right to be displeased with his coaches & took it out in his own way. The only thing I've got to add really is that if he has a dream of going pro one day, he now has this incident on his resume & it'll be up to the scouts & GM's to want to deal with him or not on their club. Unless his talent level is through the rough (which it probably isn't since he was being benched & had a sophomore starting over him), this about the most hockey-related publicity he'll ever get.
